Week Three: Meditation Month

I have to be honest,  have only meditated twice this week! It's been a pretty busy week around my house with my mum's birthday and work etc... I just completely forgot about doing it! I feel like once this month is over I am still going to try and carry this on through February so that I can properly report my experience.

Sorry! I am going to smash it next week though!

Week Two: Meditation Month

I have to admit that keeping up with this routine is quite difficult. For my second week I have taken to doing my meditation session as soon as I wake up in the morning. I am finding it increasingly difficult to sit still. The only thing about doing it early in the morning is that my mind is already starting to scan through everything I want to get done in that day. I am hoping that I will master the technique of clearing my mind but for now, halfway through the month. I am still rubbish at it if I'm honest.

Next week I am going to try doing my sessions at bed time. I am hoping this might help me sleep a little better too. I will let you know how it goes!

Week One: Meditation Month

Week One: Meditation Month

I have to be honest, I completely forgot on New Year's Day to start my meditation. Not off to a good start eh?

However I downloaded a meditation app onto my iPad called 'Breathe'. It's free and really simple to use. You simply type in your top 5 emotions for the day- e.g. Hopeful, contented, excited etc... And then the app generates a few options for you. You can read the descriptions and decide which one you want to complete- then simply set it off and follow the instructions! Couldn't be simpler!

I have been choosing the 5 minute long ones for this first week, but I will be upping my times next week. To be honest the first day, I just felt really sleepy once I had finished- which didn't do me any favours at 8am. But over this past week I have honestly began to enjoy the feeling. It's nothing special, but just having a small amount of time to completely block out everything but yourself, it is cathartic. It kind of gives you a sense of awareness in your body which is really pleasant.

This week has gone pretty well, I will report back next week with my progress and see if my energy levels increase- as some say meditation can do.

What's it all about?

The Hobby Challenge 2016

What's it all about?

Hey Guys, Ginger Fox Here!

I was having a bit of a down day today and I was trying to think of something to do to keep me occupied. I have a fair few hobbies- so it is always difficult working out what I am in the mood to do, but nothing was interesting me, I just had no motivation.

Then I got to thinking: it's about time I got myself some new hobbies- and with new year just around the corner I came up with a plan. Find a new hobby every month in 2016, try it out and blog about it! So that's exactly what I am going to do.

Now comes the hard part: choosing what new thing I will try each month. I personally feel that it can be hard to come out of my comfort zone, but that's precisely what I am planning on next year, hopefully gaining some new skills along the way.

After a lot of thinking- and I mean A LOT- here is my final list. For now at least:

January- Meditation: Meditate Every Day
February- Clay Modelling
March- Animation: Make a stop motion film
April-  Swimming: Swim once a week (I'm rubbish at swimming)
May- Jewellery Making
June- Dressmaking: Make a Dress
July- Vlogging: Make AT LEAST one Vlog
August- Learn to play the Guitar
September- Writing: Try and write a short story
October- Learn Astronomy
November- Running: Run once a Week
December- Make a Gingerbread House

So that's the list so far! It is all subject to change throughout the year but it's a good starting point. So all that's left for me to say is I will see you at the start of 2016!

Thanks for Reading! Xoxo
